Reverse mortgage lenders: the five active programs in 2026
The five reverse mortgage programs being originated in 2026, with parameter cards, NMLS verification, and a note on what's not on this list and why.
Last updated 2026-05-20 · 8 sources
Five reverse mortgage programs are being originated to U.S. borrowers in 2026. Two are HECM-focused (AAG, now part of Finance of America Reverse; and Longbridge Financial). Three are jumbo / proprietary (HomeSafe by Finance of America, Platinum Preserve by Longbridge, and SecureEquity+ by Mutual of Omaha Reverse). Each program is summarized below as a parameter card with its issuing lender, NMLS number, and the published source line we verify against. The cards are ordered alphabetically by program slug. This is not a ranking, and there is no paid placement on this page.

How does this list work?
A parameter card pulls the figures a borrower needs at the lender-selection stage: minimum age, value or loan cap, payout modes, interest-rate type, and the published parameter sheet the figures come from. Each card carries a lastVerified date sourced from the lender's own published material, not a third-party aggregator.
The cards do not carry star ratings, editor's picks, fit-for-X labels, or any other ordering signal. The grid renders in alphabetical order by program slug at the component level. We made this choice for two reasons. The first is FTC: ordering a list of affiliate-linked products by anything other than a published, defensible attribute creates a ranking, and a ranking is treated as an endorsement under the 2024 amendments to the Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255). The second is structural: the right product for a given borrower depends on home value, age, state, and payout preference. A single ranked list cannot honor any of those inputs.
To narrow the field, run the figures at /calculator for a HECM estimate or use the bounded-range jumbo mode at /calculator/h4p, then take both results into a counseling session.

What's not on this list, and why
A few items that appear on competing pages are absent from ours.
Equity Edge is not listed. Reverse Mortgage Funding, which originated Equity Edge, filed Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on November 30, 2022 (case 22-11224 (RMF LLC, jointly administered under lead case 22-11225)), and stopped originating. Aggregator pages that still list it as a current jumbo program are out of date. Existing Equity Edge loans were sold to other servicers and remain in force under their original contract terms. New borrowers cannot apply.
MediaAlpha and Datalot routes are not on this site. Those are paid-lead marketplaces that sell consumer contact information to multiple buyers, often with re-marketing rights that exceed what the consumer expects. They sit outside the affiliate framework we use, which routes to a single lender or a single qualified-call partner per click. Our affiliate paths are LendingTree (lender marketplace), FlexOffers (network), and direct pay-per-call partners. Each is named on the /disclosures page.
There is no "top reverse mortgage lender" or "best of 2026" award. We do not run editor's-pick lists, ranked lists, or sponsored placements. Every page that contains an affiliate link displays the banner at the top of this page; every below-the-fold link carries an inline per-link disclosure.
How to read these cards before you apply
Three figures on each card do the heavy lifting at the lender-selection stage.
Minimum age screens whether you can apply at all. HECM is 62 federally (HUD Handbook 4000.1, II.B.1). Jumbo programs admit at 55 in most states, with state exceptions noted on each card. A 58-year-old in California with a $1.4M home has three jumbo options and zero HECM options; a 64-year-old in Ohio with a $700K home has two HECM options and no economic case for jumbo.
Max loan cap screens whether the program leaves equity on the table. A HECM treats any appraised value above $1,249,125 as if it were $1,249,125. A $1.8M home inside HECM and a $1.8M home inside HomeSafe will produce materially different draw amounts. The /calculator and /calculator/h4p tools run both.
The source line is the published parameter sheet we verify against and the date we last pulled it. If a number on a card disagrees with what a lender quotes you in writing, the lender's written quote governs; please email the address on /disclosures so we can re-verify.

If you are working a high-value-home scenario specifically, the jumbo pillar at /jumbo walks through HECM vs. jumbo decision-making with the full comparison table at the center. If you are at the counseling-or-quote stage, /guides/reverse-mortgage-counseling covers what a HUD-approved counseling session does and does not do.
